Happy Mindful Monday!

Today we started a discussion about mindfulness, and shared with students that we will be having Mindful Monday from now on! Each Monday we will do an activity or have a discussion related to mindfulness.

We started by reading an awesome book called "ABC: Mindful Me" and talked about what it means to be mindful, as well as the different things we can do to practice mindfulness. Next, we tried yoga (see if your child can remember what letter this starts with)! We watched a video that led us through a fun ocean adventure, while practicing certain moves that are good for our bodies and minds.

         

After our yoga flow, we went outside together for the first time! We went on a "mindful walk" around the school grounds and made note of the things we heard, saw, and smelled.

Miss Aebli's AM group had gym today. Miss Schafer's AM group explored centers. Ask you child about the new centre that opened up for them! Miss Schafer's PM group had gym.

Before dismissal, we read a story called "Cookies: Bite Sized Life Lessons". It gave us the opportunity to talk about some important things (life lessons) with cookie making as a point of reference (ie. patiently waiting for the cookies to bake, being proud of your cookies, being modest even if you think you are the best cookie maker in the WORLD, being fair and sharing the cookies equally, generously sharing an extra cookie with a friend, etc).

Tomorrow is Picture Day!

Check your child's communication bag for a note about a scavenger hunt we would like you to go on at home!

The AM students will be having their own Terry Fox Run this Thursday morning. PM students will run with the rest of the school in the afternoon. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
