Monday, September 30th

Happy Monday! We hope you stayed warm and dry over the weekend!

Today we participated in another "Mindful Monday" activity. We talked about our breath and how we can practice mindful breathing to calm our bodies. We watched a video and tried it out! Then we practiced meditation with the help of a great book!

Next, we listened to the story "When We Were Alone", which led to a discussion about Orange Shirt Day and where it stems from. We talked about how Orange Shirt Day is to recognize that every child matters and is important, and then did a colouring activity for our books.

Both AM groups and the PM group explored centres today.

Lastly, we celebrated those with SEPTEMBER birthdays before dismissal. Since some students have birthdays over holidays or on weekends, this year we have decided that on the last day of every month we will celebrate all students who had a birthday in that time. We called up our September birthday students and sang to them, and then everyone participated in a fun birthday dance! We all got to enjoy a tasty treat (banana slices and chocolate chips) as well.

REMINDER: TOMORROW we are recognizing Orange Shirt Day. Please wear an orange shirt or something similar (yellow, red, pink).

We will be picking new books from the Learning Commons. Please bring back your library book from last week!
