Happy First Week of Fall!

Today we started talking about fall and the changes we are seeing that tell us it is no longer summer time. Ask your child what they might see that is a clue to the changing season! Students also noticed something new in the classroom....pumpkins (and other fall vegetables)! We will be investigating these objects at a later time.

Students who had brought back their library book from last week were able to exchange it for a new one in the Learning Commons today. If you forgot to return your book - that's ok! Please remember to bring it back as soon as possible and we will try and find time for students to pick a new one this week. This is a learning process for our kiddos so we are happy to be flexible with book exchanges for the first few weeks.

Next we read, "Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn" and continued talking about seasonal changes. We learned a new word - ask your child what "Autumn" means! Then, we did a sorting activity as a group with things that belong in the "fall" category and things that belong in the "summer" category. Ask your child what items were sorted into each category.

Miss Aebli's AM group explored centres today. Something was different about the forest centre! The season is changing in there too! Miss Schafer's AM group had gym. The PM group also had centre time.

REMINDER:

The AM groups will be doing their own Terry Fox Run during scheduled gym time on Thursday. The PM group will join the rest of the school at the assembly and participate in the run then. Parents are welcome to attend our Terry Fox assembly and run, starting at about 1:15. If your child is a MORNING student, they are welcome to come back for the whole school Terry Fox event, however they MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions!
