Friday, October 4th

Happy Friday! We started off our morning in the gym playing tag games with Miss Schafer. After we were exhausted from running around, our grade 2/3 buddies from Mrs. Boyton's class were able to join us once again. The grade 2/3's were a big help to us today, as they took us on a number hunt! Our kindergarten students are beginning to explore that numbers are all around us. We searched high and low for numbers around our classroom and in our school's gathering area. In our visual journals, kindergarten students drew pictures to represent where they found the numbers and our grade 2/3 buddies helped us to write and label our drawings. We were lucky enough to have enough time for both centres and math before the end of the day. In math, we continued to practice our SUBITIZING skills with a video and a fun dice game called Roll and Cover. This is the second time our afternoon students have had a chance to play and master their subitizing skills with a dice. Students were tasked with subitizing their roll of the dice and covering the appropriate numeral on their game board to match. Below is a link to the subitizing video we have shared with our students in the classroom.

Subitize: is the ability to tell the number of objects in a set, quickly, without counting.

Enjoy your weekend!
