Thursday, October 17th

Today we read "The Busy Body Book". We learned about our bodies and how to keep them healthy and happy. We learned that our bones keep us standing tall, our muscles help us to move and stretch, and our brain helps us think and that it receives messages from our five senses. Our brain also tells our muscles what to do and how to move. We learned the 3 things that our bodies need. Ask me what they are! Hint: air to breathe, food to eat, water to drink.

Lastly, we learned that because our busy bodies work so hard, we need rest to heal, grow, and get ready for another day.

In the AM, there was a school-wide lockdown practice. Since we practiced this already yesterday, we did great! When we heard the announcement "Lockdown, lockdown, lockdown!" we knew to stop what we were doing and go to our spot in the classroom where we sit quietly until we are told the lockdown is over. After some time, Mrs. Tourigny and Constable Gemma unlocked our door and came in to tell us we did a good job and could go back to what we were doing.

Next we learned the "Mat Man" song. Mat Man helps us remember to include all the parts of the body when drawing a person. We practiced drawing Mat Man, and made sure to draw one head, two eyes, 1 nose, 1 mouth, 2 ears, one body, two arms, two hands, two legs, and two feet. Some of us added detail like hair or clothes.

Miss Aebli's AM group explored centres. Miss Schafer's AM group went to gym, and the PM group went to music.

REMINDERS:

If you have not yet brought in a family photo you can still do so!

Our school does not wear costumes on Halloween Day. Instead, we wear orange or black for "Orange and Black Day". If you would like to wear your costume to school and celebrate with your classmates/teachers, you may choose to come to the Halloween Family Dance on the evening of October 24th. More info is on the invitation that was sent home today.

Tomorrow is an AM day.
