Today we did math! We started by reading a book about numbers in our world. We learned that you can find numbers all over the place, and that these numbers give us information and tell us important things. We looked at the ideas in the book and then brainstormed some of our own. We shared that we can find numbers on a clock, on houses, on road signs, in books, on a scoreboard at a sports game, on jerseys, and in the elevator (among many more)! Ask your child to look for numbers in your home or community next time you are going for a drive.

It has been some time since we last talked about sorting, so we reviewed the concept and then cycled through "sorting stations" working together in table groups to sort. Students were challenged to sort the objects at each station using a variety of sorting rules. For example, one station had playing cards, which could be sorted by number, suite, colour, and even "cards with people on them and cards with no people on them". Another station had coloured letter magnets that could be sorted by colour, letter, uppercase & lowercase, or size. Ask your child what they sorted and what their sorting rules were.

Miss Aebli's group went to music and gym with Mrs. O this morning while Miss Schafer's AM group explored centres. The PM group also had gym and centre time.
