Friday, December 13th
Can you believe that it is already the last Friday before winter break? Our time in Kindergarten is just flying by! Today we started our morning off in the gym with Ms. Schafer playing 4 Corners and tag games. Afterwards, we came back to the classroom to do a quick calendar discussion before our Grade 2/3 buddies joined us again to finish a STEM project we started way back in November. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. STEM education encourages teamwork, experimentation, problem solving, resiliency and fosters creativity and ingenuity. Before the snow started to fall, we were able to head outside and map out the Bridlewood School playground with the help from our buddies. The Grade 2/3's have been learning about 'quality of life' and ways we can improve it, so we thought we could improve our quality of life at school by creating a new and improved playground, or adding new equipment to the current one. Today, we were able to take our blueprint pages, look back to our map of the playground, and plan out a new and improved playground. After students worked hard on their blueprint, they were able to take the desired materials and build their own playground!
Our materials list included:
Our materials list included:

- popsicle sticks
- plasticine (in many colours)
- toilet paper rolls
Take a look at some of the photos showing the STEM process of researching, planning, designing and building our playground.
We finished off our busy day with snack, a story called "The Thing About Yetis", and centre time.
Enjoy your weekend!
