Wednesday, February 26th

Today Mrs. G's AM class got to participate in the "Winter Wonders" workshop! They learned from and participated in the same activities as the classes yesterday. Ask your child to tell you what they liked best about the Scientists in School program! Gentle reminder to please visit your MyCBE account to pay the $9 fee. Thank you for your support!

Miss Aebli's AM group worked on math this morning. We talked about different kinds of shapes that we know, and what shapes we see in the classroom. Then we talked what shapes we see on our faces. We looked at a picture of a face and noticed that it was SYMMETRICAL. We learned that faces are (usually) always symmetrical. Students were then given a string to use as their "line of symmetry" and a mirror to find the line of symmetry on their own face! Next students were asked to look closely at the shapes on their face (this will be important for tomorrow's art activity).

When students were done, they went around the room looking for symmetrical objects using their string as the line of symmetry.

After our "symmetry hunt", students were given pictures of various things from nature and they had to sort them by whether they were symmetrical or asymmetrical.

Miss Aebli's AM group also had music and gym today. The PM class worked on the same shape and symmetry activities in the afternoon before also going to gym!

REMINDERS:

Thanks for wearing your pink shirts today! Tomorrow is our school's "Kindness Kickoff Assembly". Parents are welcome to attend. It will begin at 10:30 am in the gym. Mayor Nenshi will be there to talk to us about the importance of spreading kindness. His favourite colour is purple, so we have invited Bridlewood School students to wear purple if they wish.

This Friday is an AM day!
